Week 5, a little late

I'm determined to finish 23thingsnat, but I give up on Downloadables. I was able to check out books on my work computer and at home, but never able to open them up to listen to. I knew this would be a problem at the library, but thought it would be a breeze at home (I know- so silly). I think the main glitch was that I'm using a MAC, which isn't allowing anything to open, and now I'm giving up.
I do have to say, however, that even without that frustration, this would have still been an aggravating excercise. The selection of titles to download weren't that great (especially children's books, and I am a children's librarian) and searching for them via NetLibrary took a while. I suppose if you are looking for one specific title, then doing a NetLibrary or catalog search wouldn't be that bad, but just browsing wasn't fun.
And looking up exact titles, only to not find them listed wasn't cool either.
I'd be interested in seeing statistics as to how many people use this service throughout the county; for me, it's easier to put the CD on hold and listen to it that way.
(And this is especially true using MAC supported equipment/systems.) All in all,
very frustrating. I would hate to have to talk a patron though this excercise over the phone (that being said, I quess I'll have to revisit this process in the future, to see if I can finally conquer it.)

Things I like...

I'd love to have a cup of tea in this setting. Wow. And, after this weeks excercise, I feel like I could use a cup of tea. Very confusing to me- and time consuming- but I did it!
One of the highlights, however, was finding this video on You Tube of my brother's band- Queen City Funk & Soul. He is the drummer, and yes, he's cool (but probably not as cool as me...

Week 3

Well, it turns out I really am cool, because I already had an account for RSS Feeds AND a Delicious account (although sadly with no bookmarks.) To fulfill this weeks assignment, I added some feeds & bookmarks tonight and it was like shopping online with someone else's credit card, I just couldn't stop. Who knew there were so many cool blogs out there- (especially from my own library)? I hope one of these assignments includes tips on keeping up with all the information we're now subscribing to- separating the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.
Over & out, H.

First Day

I'm still not sure I'm doing this right, but here it is anyway- hbv123- my first blog.
I feel totally cool now.
